D’Angelo Russell – Minnesota Timberwolves
It is no secret that the Minnesota Timberwolves want Ben Simmons and as a result, one player they could be willing to offer up in trade packages is former All-Star point guard D’Angelo Russell. The Timberwolves acquired Russell from the Golden State Warriors during the 2019-20 season and since joining the team, he has been productive when healthy.
In 54 career games with the Minnesota Timberwolves, D’Angelo Russell has averaged 19.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and has shot 42.6% from the floor, 37.6% from three-point range.
Being one of the better isolation scorers in the league, there are some questions about Russell’s fit with the Philadelphia 76ers and the likes of Joel Embiid, but this should not overshadow the fact that he is an offensive-minded point guard that can play with a contending team like the Sixers.
Only being under contract through the 2022-23 season, the 76ers would not be tied down to the former All-Star long-term. If they decide he is not the right fit for them, they would easily be able to move on from D’Angelo Russell and look for another All-Star talent elsewhere.

In addition, if Russell was to join this team and exceed expectations, they could possibly flip him for an All-Star they have had their eyes on over the years in the offseason. It would be a lot easier to trade D’Angelo Russell too because he is going to be turning 26-years-old this season and would be entering the final year of his contract next offseason.
If they are unable to land Pascal Siakam in a trade for Ben Simmons, the Philadelphia 76ers would be smart to have D’Angelo Russell ranked as their second-best trade target available.
