John Wall – Houston Rockets
From the start of the 2013-14 season to midway through the 2017-18 NBA season, John Wall was one of the best point guards in the entire NBA and had made five straight All-Star appearances.
In this five-season time span, Wall averaged 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 9.9 assists, 1.8 steals and shot 43.6% from the floor. Add in his insane athletic abilities, the former Kentucky standout was virtually impossible to stop once he got going, but then injuries began to haunt him.
Since said injuries, Wall has not been the same player, but he did look pretty good when he was out there on the court for the Houston Rockets last season. His athleticism is still there and John Wall can still be a productive point guard, which is why the Philadelphia 76ers could wind up considering him as a replacement for Ben Simmons in the short term.
In the offseason, the Houston Rockets and John Wall decided to work on finding a new home for the former All-Star, but he will remain a member of the Rockets, for now, acting as a mentor for some of the young talents on this roster.

Seeing as they are rebuilding, the Houston Rockets are looking to add more versatile, high-level, and young talents to their roster, which is exactly why they could show interest in Ben Simmons at some point this season.
For the Philadelphia 76ers though, does adding John Wall really make sense, especially given his contract? Wall is owed $91.6M through next season, assuming he opts into his $47M player option for the 2022-23 season, which would put the 76ers at a disadvantage financially.

A trade between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Houston Rockets involving both Ben Simmons and John Wall can definitely work, as both players have large contracts that other teams around the league cannot necessarily absorb, but this may not be a trade that really makes the Sixers a better team in terms of contending for a championship.
