3 Factors Must Play Out Before 76ers Trade Ben Simmons

The new NBA season is upon us, but the drama between the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons is far from over. Simmons has ended his holdout and reported to the 76ers last week, but the issues between the team and the All-Star 7-footer are still ongoing, especially after he was recently suspended from the team

Ben Simmons was kicked out of practice and suspended by the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday after refusing to partake in certain drills the coaching staff wanted him to participate in.

Now, Simmons will miss the 76ers’ season-opener on October 20 against the New Orleans Pelicans and there is really no telling what this suspension means for him and his time in Philly.

His teammates also seem to be done with the drama that has been caused this offseason and Joel Embiid has been very vocal about his opinion on this matter. “I’m not here to babysit,” Embiid told reporters after Tuesday’s practice. “At this point, I don’t care about that man, honestly. He does whatever he wants. That’s not my job. … I’m only focused on trying to make the team better, win some games, play hard every night and try to lead the guys that we have here.”

The 76ers continue to pursue a trade involving Ben Simmons, but the problem right now is that no team is willing to pay the price they are looking for. Daryl Morey and the Sixers’ front-office have stated all offseason long that they want an All-Star-level player in return for their All-Star and if they do not get this kind of value in a trade, they are not interested.

It is definitely reasonable for the Philadelphia 76ers management to want another contender piece if they are to trade Ben Simmons, but what team is going to be looking to offer up their All-Star right now, especially with the new season beginning?

Waiting until the NBA trade deadline may be their best chance to trade Simmons at this point, but they may not be able to afford to wait this long. Something is going to be done about Ben Simmons in the near future, but here are three things that may need to happen before the 76ers can pull the trigger on a trade involving Simmons.
