The Oklahoma City Thunder can be mentioned on any list when it comes to acquiring a player via trade. They have the cap space to absorb almost anyone’s contract in a salary dump and the draft capital to spare if they want to upgrade the roster.
Eventually, that is the course of action they will have to take. Sam Presti will have to begin turning some of these assets into players that can help the team win on the court. Deandre Ayton would be an excellent place to start.
Ayton would give the Thunder a foundational piece in the middle, something they are currently lacking. Oklahoma City used their first-round picks on guards in the 2021 NBA Draft and already have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as a budding star in the backcourt.
Deandre Ayton would fit the Oklahoma City Thunder’s timeline perfectly as he enters his age-23 season. He and SGA would be one of the best young duos in the league, providing Oklahoma City with a duo to build around for the foreseeable future.
