How This Trade Impacts Los Angeles Lakers
It was only one game of the regular season, and they were missing some pieces, but opening night was not pretty for the Los Angeles Lakers. There is no reason to panic yet, but if things persist this way, changes will be made.
The Lakers received no offensive production from anyone other than LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They are hoping that Russell Westbrook eventually becomes that third option, but it will take some time for him to acclimate himself.
If he fails to do so, acquiring someone such as Dillon Brooks would make a lot of sense. Brooks showed during the postseason that he can be relied upon as a go-to option offensively.
In the series against the Utah Jazz, Brooks averaged 25.8 points per game to go along with 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. He would not only provide Los Angeles with some scoring punch from the wing but a defensive presence as well.

The Lakers could use some more two-way players and Brooks would fit the bill. But, is this a package that they would be willing to part with to acquire him?
The organization is extremely high on Talen Horton-Tucker. They prioritized bringing him back in free agency, essentially choosing him over Alex Caruso. Their reluctance to include him in trade packages is why the Lakers didn’t land Kyle Lowry at last year’s deadline.
There is serious doubt that he would be included in a deal for anyone. But, should the Lakers change their mind, Brooks would be a great addition to the team on the wing.
