This offseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves upgraded some of the depth on their roster by adding Patrick Beverley and Taurean Prince, but they saw some change in their front office.
The Timberwolves parted ways with President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas in September and there was heavy speculation that this was because of his unwillingness to give up key assets in a trade for Ben Simmons.
The 76ers have been looking to trade Ben Simmons all offseason long and the Timberwolves have been one of the few teams highly interested in acquiring the 3x All-Star. Adding him to this team with Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns would be a big move for this organization, but it does not appear a deal like this is going to get done.
For years now, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been near the bottom of the standings in the Western Conference and they have made the playoffs just once since the start of the 2004-05 season.

Karl-Anthony Towns is their All-Star talent on this roster, but at some point, constantly losing is going to get to him. While he is committed to the team right now, things can change in an instant in this league, which is why it is realistic to believe that he could request out at some point during the 2021-22 season.
In this event, the Phoenix Suns would absolutely be interested in trading for him, as Towns is definitely an upgrade in their system compared to the likes of Deandre Ayton.
While Ayton stepped up in a big way for them last season in the playoffs, Towns is a much better overall threat and next to the likes of Devin Booker and Chris Paul, this Suns team would be in a much better position to contend for a title.

Karl-Anthony Towns is also good friends with Devin Booker, dating back to their days as teammates on the 2014-15 Kentucky team that went 38-0 into the Final Four that season. If he is available, Phoenix will definitely be interested in Karl-Anthony Towns, but is this a trade that they should pursue?
