Stephen Curry is an MVP candidate once again, Draymond Green is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate once again, and for the first time since the 2019 NBA Finals, Klay Thompson will make his return from injuries during the 2021-22 season for the Golden State Warriors. This team has a real chance to be a contending team in the NBA again, but the last few years have not been kind to this Warriors franchise.

After losing to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals, the Warriors went 15-50 during the 2019-20 season, their least amount of wins in a season as a franchise since the 1952-53 NBA season when they were the Philadelphia Warriors and went 12-57.

Injuries really haunted the Warriors during the 2019-20 season and they did once again last year, as Golden State came up short of making the playoffs because they lost to the Grizzlies and Lakers in the play-in tournament.

Having a rejuvenated roster with a really solid blend of young and experienced talents, the Warriors definitely have a chance to be a title contender in the Western Conference during the 2021-22 season, especially when Klay returns. However, this does not mean that general manager Bob Myers and Golden State’s front office will sit back and relax all year long.

Myers is always looking to give the Warriors the best chance to succeed, regardless of what that means in terms of sacrificing assets. This organization has moved pieces around midseason before and they could be gearing up to do so again this year.

James Wiseman was drafted second overall by the Warriors in 2020 and altogether, he had a really solid rookie season given that he had never really played in college and was a teenager in the NBA. The young center’s potential moving forward is definitely high, but do the Warriors have time to sit around and wait?

Curry is 33-years-old already and both Green and Thompson are 31-years-old, so the Warriors’ opportunity to win another championship has definitely slimmed down.

Moving Wiseman to get another “win-now” piece for this season could be something that is of interest to the Warriors, especially if they can also add some more future value in the process.

Let’s take a look at a trade that would send James Wiseman to the Oklahoma City Thunder and in result, give the Golden State Warriors a more experienced big man who can help them possibly contend for another title this season.
