Notable Recent Contract Extension Agreements

Mikal Bridges – Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns and breakout wing Mikal Bridges agreed to a four-year, $90M extension on Sunday afternoon. Bridges came on in a big way for Phoenix last season on the wing and was a big part of why they went on to win the Western Conference.

Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton are the “Big 3” on the Suns’ roster, but Mikal Bridges cemented himself as one of the better two-way players in the league last season.

His ability to be a “3-and-D” player, as well as a mid-range scorer has opened up the Suns’ game plan tremendously and as a result, Phoenix is going to be a tough team to beat once again.

Malcolm Brogdon – Indiana Pacers

There was a lot of chatter about the Pacers possibly trading Malcolm Brogdon in the offseason, but now, after agreeing to a two-year, $45M deal, Brogdon is ineligible to be traded this season.

The 28-year-old guard has improved greatly over the years in Indiana and had a borderline All-Star season last year, averaging 21.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and shooting 38.8% from three-point range.

The Indiana Pacers have a lot of question marks surrounding them due to injuries and overall potential on their roster, but if they can actually be healthy for once, they have a solid-looking team. This is definitely going to be one of the teams to watch all season long, but as for Brogdon, we should expect nothing less than high-level play from him.

Who knows, maybe he can break through and make his first All-Star game this season, along with fellow teammate Domantas Sabonis, who has made the All-Star game each of the last two seasons.

Kevin Huerter – Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks surprised everyone last season by upsetting the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, but this was not a fluke. This Hawks team is legit and one of their core young talents is Kevin Huerter.

Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Huerter has cemented himself as a reliable three-point shooter and is a player everyone apart of this Hawks’ organization wants to keep.

Kevin Huerter and the Hawks seemed motivated to get a deal done and managed to get something in place — agreeing to a four-year, $65 million contract extension. Many have praised the deal as being a good value and it certainly appears to be the case.
