Notable Recent Contract Extension Agreements

Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon – Denver Nuggets

With Jamal Murray out to begin the season for the Denver Nuggets, reigning league-MVP Nikola Jokic will obviously have to carry a lot of the load for this team, but guys like Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon will have to step up into much larger roles than before.

Denver seems to be invested in these two guys as well, as they have recently extended both of their contracts long-term.

Aaron Gordon came to the Nuggets at the NBA trade deadline last season and on September 15, they agreed to a four-year, $92M extension with the 26-year-old forward. As for Michael Porter Jr., he agreed to a five-year rookie-scale contract that is guaranteed for $145.3M on September 29.

Both guys are going to play a huge role for the Nuggets this season and if this team is to take the next step in their championship journey, it will be because of Gordon and Porter Jr. emerging as key contributors on offense.

Terance Mann – Los Angeles Clippers

Much like the Nuggets, the Los Angeles Clippers are dealing with a key injury of their own, as Kawhi Leonard is out with a partially torn ACL.

Paul George and Reggie Jackson will have to step up in Leonard’s absence, but so will Terance Mann, who emerged in a big way in the postseason last year when he scored 39 points in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Utah Jazz.

Mann and the Clippers recently agreed to a two-year, $22M deal to keep him in Los Angeles through the 2024-25 season.

Drafted 48th overall in 2019, the young wing definitely has high expectations placed on him now, but with his athleticism and consistency out on the perimeter, Terance Mann has a chance to be one of the breakout players of the new season.

Jaren Jackson Jr. – Memphis Grizzlies

Ja Morant is going to be receiving a massive contract extension next offseason, but the Grizzlies have solidified their future next to their star point guard by agreeing to terms with Jaren Jackson Jr. on a four-year, $105M deal.

Jackson Jr. has been plagued by injuries early on in his career, but the near 7-footer is extremely versatile in terms of what roles he can play on the court.

He can rebound, shoot from the perimeter, block shots, and has a ton of potential to be a terrific runner in transition next to Ja Morant, who is one of the most explosive athletes in the NBA.

At just 22-years-old, the potential is endless with a guy like Jaren Jackson Jr. and as a result, the 2021-22 season has a chance to be a big year for him and the Grizzlies.
