The Western Conference is extremely deep and it is because of teams like this. Both the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns were NBA championship contenders a season ago and it is likely that it remains this way moving forward. The two sides could get together for a deal that will help them tremendously heading into next season.
The Jazz finished at the top of the Western Conference last season and finished with the best record in the league. Both Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are locked up long-term and this means Utah will remain in contention moving forward. There are still plenty of ways to reshape the lineup.
Bojan Bogdanovic was an important piece for the Jazz last season and he could be the main trade piece because of his contract situation. The Jazz was eliminated in the second round of the postseason by the Los Angeles Clippers after winning the first two games of the series.
If Utah would have won that series, they would have taken on the Suns. Phoenix finished second in the Western Conference and was able to represent in the NBA Finals. They came up just short against the Milwaukee Bucks but will also return their core. Chris Paul opted out of his deal and signed a fresh four-year deal to remain in Phoenix.

The Suns have plenty of depth and are looking like favorites once again to come out of the West. This can happen if the front office continues to make the necessary moves to improve.
It will be interesting to see if these teams make a deal with each other as contenders in the same conference. If they do, this is what the deal could potentially look like at some point.
