Would this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
The Indiana Pacers decided to trade Victor Oladipo midseason and this sparked some other rumors. Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis were featured but nothing has happened to this point.
If the Pacers want to acquire Ben Simmons, it is likely that one will have to be moved and Brogdon seems like the first choice. The Philadelphia 76ers would need to land a point guard to replace Simmons given that Tyrese Maxey and Shake Melton do not necessarily meet the mark for a contending team.
Caris LeVert will have the ball in his hands much of the time running the offense. He is a legitimate shot creation threat and scorer. He would be leaned on more to perform in such ways given going from Malcolm Brogdon to Ben Simmons is more limiting in this area.
Simmons has shown that he needs to play off the ball so he is not relied on to score as an initiator in the traditional ways perimeter stars are featured. Simmons remains an elite defender along the perimeter and can pass in the half-court.

There are some benefits to adding Simmons and the Pacers would have to have a plan if this deal was made. Having a core of Simmons, LeVert, and Sabonis seems pretty solid for Indiana moving forward. This is why they remain dark-horse contenders to land the point guard at some point this season.
