Does this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?
With LaMelo Ball running the show in Charlotte now with Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, P.J. Washington, and others, the Hornets are in a great position to improve this season, but their frontcourt is still weak. Mason Plumlee will definitely give them a little bit more of a boost than Cody Zeller ever did, but Myles Turner would really separate this Hornets team from where they have been over the years.
In time, this roster is going to improve and make the playoffs, but they can really speed things up by adding a true big man who can make a difference. Plumlee is going to help out in terms of facilitating and some interior scoring/rebounding, but Turner is a much better rebounder and is one of the best shot-blockers in the league.
Charlotte ranked 16th in the league in blocked shots last season with 4.8 blocks per game last season and Turner alone averaged 3.4 blocks per game. Adding him to this Hornets team makes Charlotte a Top-10 team in terms of blocked shots and defensively as a whole, they really were not that bad of a team last year.

They ranked 18th in the league in defensive rating, which is not great, but with Myles Turner, this team could wind up ranking inside the Top-10. This is how much of a difference Turner makes to a team defensively and quite honestly, the Hornets may be the team that is the most well suited for him.
The way Charlotte utilizes their big men on the perimeter in pick-and-roll sets would set Myles Turner up for a lot of three-point opportunities and he would be the anchor for this team defensively, meaning that the Hornets would have plenty of defensive-to-offense transition attempts every single night.

This trade definitely makes too much sense for the Hornets to pass up on, even though they really like the contributions that Gordon Hayward gives them.
