Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
Heading into the 2021-22 season, the Indiana Pacers have a lot of things they need to fix and the injury bug is just one of the many problems this team has.
Being poor on offense and defense last season, Indiana just needs to find ways to get Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon some more help, which is why adding Gordon Hayward could go a long way in this team being successful.
Sabonis is not a true center and is much better playing the power-forward position, but rolling out a starting lineup of Brogdon, LeVert, Warren, Hayward, and Sabonis at full-strength could immediately make the Pacers a better offensive team than they would normally be with Myles Turner.
Nothing against Myles Turner, as he is a fantastic player, but his upside in Indiana is limited because they will not expand his role at all. Through all of these years he has been with the Pacers, this team refuses to give him a larger role on offense and quite honestly, this is probably hurting their team.

Using Turner as a stretch big man in pick-and-roll situations is great, but that is about all they do with him offensively. Maybe with Rick Carlisle now calling plays the Pacers will change their approach with their center, but right now, Gordon Hayward is a better fit offensively for this team and that is their primary problem right now.
The Pacers desperately need something good to happen to them for once and by shaking things up roster-wise, they could actually further themselves in terms of being a threat in the Eastern Conference. Overall though, whether they trade Turner or not, this team is still not a championship contender.
