The San Antonio Spurs are in a bit of an awkward position. They are not good enough to truly contend, especially in the loaded Western Conference. But, they are likely not going to be bad enough to realistically contend for the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

San Antonio is going to look different this upcoming season.

All of their veteran free agents departed this past offseason as DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay, and Patty Mills all signed elsewhere. LaMarcus Aldridge was bought out during the regular season as well.

The San Antonio Spurs signed Zach Collins and Doug McDermott and selected the youngest player in the 2021 draft class in Alabama point guard Josh Primo. They always have some rhyme and reason to the players they are targeting even if the general public doesn’t agree with them.

San Antonio was also looking into making some trades this offseason. Dejounte Murray was one of the players mentioned most frequently, as he was labeled as gettable leading up to the draft. Lonnie Walker IV and Derrick White were two more players mentioned in trade rumors as well.
