Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?

Luke Kennard, Keon Johnson, and Jason Preston are all young talents that have the potential to grow, but what do the Washington Wizards truly get out of this deal?

The Wizards would be trading away one of the Top-15 players in the league, based on the fact that Beal made the All-NBA list last year, for three unproven players, a veteran in Bledsoe that brings nothing to the table for them and a handful of second-round picks that could end up being meaningless.

Keon Johnson and Jason Preston are both rookies with a lot of potential to be key assets moving forward in this league, but at the same time, they are unproven talents that have yet to play in an actual NBA game. Luke Kennard is a lights-out three-point shooter and Eric Bledsoe has proven to be a reliable veteran, but none of these players really help the Washington Wizards in any way.

The offseason was all about moving in a new direction for the Wizards while also remaining a possible playoff team in the Eastern Conference. They added the likes of Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Spencer Dinwiddie, and others alongside Bradley Beal, so why would they want to get rid of their All-Star for basically nothing?

Sure, he could request a trade at the NBA trade deadline, but this is a horrific trade for the Wizards and they could definitely get better value from any of the other 28 teams around the NBA.

Los Angeles is in a tough position to make a trade right now for a top-tier talent because they simply do not have assets. Their only first-round pick that is tradeable is in 2028 and other than that, they have a ton of second-round picks that are basically “end-of-draft” quality.

If the Wizards were to trade Bradley Beal to the LA Clippers, two or three other teams would have to be involved in the deal that way Washington is getting not only a ton of draft compensation but reasonable talents in return.

Getting Bledsoe, Kennard, two rookies, and second-round picks is an absolute joke, and anyone who thinks the Wizards would accept this offer is insane.
