Can the Cavaliers make a trade with the 76ers work?

If the trade package being proposed is Kevin Love, Collin Sexton and draft picks for Ben Simmons, more teams will definitely be involved in the deal because it is hard to believe the 76ers would want to bring in Kevin Love. 

His contract is terrible and Love has not shown that he is a championship-caliber player anymore, so he really would not help the Sixers in terms of beating the Nets or Bucks. Collin Sexton is a great piece to add, but ultimately, Cleveland is the team that would win in this scenario. 

They would not have to worry about extending Collin Sexton, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, and they would get rid of Love’s contract, which seems impossible to do.

On top of everything else, they get Ben Simmons for the next four years, an All-Star who can grow into one of the best two-way players in the league.

Adding Simmons to the Cavs roster gives them four 7-footers with him, Allen, Markkanen, and Mobley, so who knows what kind of a lineup this team could roll out! If they really wanted to, all four guys could take the court together with Darius Garland, making them an extremely tough team to guard in the paint. 

The 76ers really do not have much to gain by just getting Collin Sexton for Ben Simmons, which is why the groundwork for other teams to be involved would have to be laid out before they commit to this deal.

Trading Ben Simmons for Collin Sexton and maybe two other high-level role players is enough value for the Sixers to get back, but ultimately, the Cleveland Cavaliers are low on the “totem pole” in terms of having a shot at trading for the 76ers’ All-Star.
