New York Knicks Receive: Kenrich Williams

Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: Kevin Knox II, 2022 Second-Round Pick

This is a pretty straightforward trade between the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Knox II is in the final year of his rookie deal, so matching salary won’t be overly complicated.

In this deal, the Knicks deal Knox and a 2022 second-round pick to the Thunder in exchange for Kenrich Williams. At this point in time, the Knicks could be enticed by this deal.

Williams has proved to be a solid two-way player that does a little bit of everything. He has shown some floor stretching ability, which a team can never have too much of. His versatility defensively is what the Knicks would like.

In an emergency, Tom Thibodeau would likely be more comfortable turning to someone like Williams over Knox. He knows what he would be getting from the former TCU product, as he can defend multiple positions and gives 100 percent whenever he is on the court.

The same level of confidence, it seems, will never be held in Knox. Even in preseason games this year he is still missing defensive assignments and looking lost at times. If Thibodeau cannot trust you to get it done defensively, you will not see the court.

How does this trade impact the Thunder? Let’s take a look at why they should take a chance on Knox.
