Best Trade Destination No. 2: Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks set out to find a secondary ball-handler to team up with Luka Doncic this offseason. They were unable to find one, but they could accomplish that feat by acquiring Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets.
Irving would be the exact kind of player that Dallas has been looking for. He would take a ton of pressure off of Doncic as he is more than capable of carrying the offensive load for stretches at a time. He is an excellent facilitator and table-setter and can score at will.
Providing a second reliable scorer alongside Doncic would help take this team to another level. Irving won’t help the team’s defense, but their offensive attack would be explosive.
Dallas could build a package around Kristaps Porzingis to acquire Irving. With the trade value of Irving being low around the league, landing a player with the upside of Porzingis may be the best that the Nets can do. The Mavericks could include future draft capital as well.

The Mavericks should be a team that Irving is willing to report to. They have no mandates in place, meaning he would be eligible to play right away. They are also on the cusp of contending in the Western Conference and Irving’s acquisition could push them into that next tier.
