Worst Trade Destination No. 1: Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been involved in some trade chatter recently. They were one of the teams looking into acquiring Ben Simmons from the Philadelphia 76ers, so they could be a logical landing spot for Kyrie Irving as well.
But, this would be a bad landing spot for Irving. The Timberwolves need to improve defensively and Irving would not help them achieve that. He would be an upgrade on D’Angelo Russell, but this is not the shake-up that Minnesota should be looking to make.
Irving would not have the same impact that Jimmy Butler did a few years ago when they acquired him in a trade. There is also the fact that the Timberwolves aren’t close to being contenders, as that season with Butler is the only playoff appearance they have in 17 years.
Bringing Irving into a losing situation is a recipe for disaster. The Timberwolves have some intriguing young players and finished last season on a high note, going 11-11 in their last 22 games. They would be better off riding that wave.

Also, Irving’s stance on being unvaccinated is likely something that would cause some tension in the locker room. Karl-Anthony Towns lost his mother and multiple family members to COVID-19. It is hard to imagine him accepting someone against the vaccine and mandates as Irving is with open arms.
