Kevin Garnett and Sam Cassell were the two leading scorers on the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2003-04 NBA season and they led Minnesota all the way to the Western Conference Finals that year, only to lose to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in six games.

This was the last time the Timberwolves were in the Western Conference Finals and since 2004, this franchise has made the playoffs just once in 2018 and they won one game against the Houston Rockets in their first-round series.

In fact, since the 2003-04 season, the Minnesota Timberwolves have put together just two seasons with a winning record. The Kings may have missed the playoffs for 15 consecutive seasons and counting, but the Timberwolves are not far behind them in terms of being one the least successful teams in the league over the last decade or two!

All-Stars and high-level talents like Jimmy Butler, Zach LaVine, and Andrew Wiggins have come and gone from this franchise and now D’Angelo Russell is the most recent All-Star to join the team.

LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Latest Intel On Timberwolves and Ben Simmons Trade Talks

Russell was traded to Minnesota during the 2019-20 season and in his first full season with the Timberwolves last year, the former All-Star guard averaged 19.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and shot 38.7% from three-point range.

The former No. 2 overall pick is still a great isolation player, but injuries are a big concern for him moving forward. He has played in just 54 games with the Timberwolves since being traded and he missed a large chunk of time last year due to a handful of injuries.
