How This Trade Impacts Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic began trading away some of their best assets at the trade deadline. They sent Nikola Vucevic to the Chicago Bulls and Aaron Gordon to the Denver Nuggets. Impending free agency Evan Fournier was also traded to the Boston Celtics.
Terrence Ross is the last veteran standing from that group and is likely to be traded at some point. But, the same cannot be said for Jonathan Isaac, who is a key part of the team’s rebuild.
This isn’t a deal the Magic would likely consider right now. But, if Isaac shows that he cannot remain healthy, they could look to eventually trade him. This package from the Phoenix Suns would provide the Magic with some things they need.
Right now, Orlando has very little in the way of building blocks on the wing. Cameron Johnson could slide right into that role, providing the team with some much-needed 3-point shooting as well.

The Magic wouldn’t have much of a need for the veteran Crowder, as he would likely be on the move again at some point during the season. His defense and 3-point shooting are something the Magic would find a use for as long as he remained with the team.
Dario Saric is included to match salaries. He is a solid player when healthy and could become a good bargaining chip down the road. The 2025 first-round pick might be what Orlando is most excited about.

Rebuilding teams love stockpiling assets. It gives them options down the road, as they can use that selection themselves to add a young player to the mix or use it to sweeten a trade package to add established talent to the team.
