Phoenix Suns Receive: F/C Jonathan Isaac, G R.J. Hampton, G Michael Carter-Williams
Orlando Magic Receive: F Cameron Johnson, F Jae Crowder, F/C Dario Saric, 2025 First-Round Pick

This would be a pretty significant deal for both teams. Both teams are sending out key rotation pieces in this deal, some of which are young, long-term building blocks.

The headline grabber of this trade is Jonathan Isaac, who would be landing with the Phoenix Suns. There are some risks in acquiring him in trade, as he is recovering from an ACL injury and has battled injuries throughout his career.

While there is no mandate in Phoenix when it comes to vaccinations as there is in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, there is still a risk in acquiring an unvaccinated player.

While eligible to play, he faces strict protocols which could sideline him for weeks should he contract COVID or be a close contact.

Joining Isaac in Phoenix will be R.J. Hampton and Michael Carter-Williams. Hampton was acquired from the Denver Nuggets by the Orlando Magic at the NBA trade deadline in the Aaron Gordon deal. He played well with the added opportunity down the stretch and gives Monty Williams a young, versatile player on the wing. Carter-Williams adds veteran backcourt depth.

Heading to Orlando is veteran Jae Crowder, sharpshooter Cameron Johnson, Dario Saric, and a 2025 first-round pick. Crowder will help shore up the frontcourt, giving Orlando a veteran presence for their young guys to learn from.

Johnson was a lottery pick in 2019. He was an older prospect when drafted, but at 25-years old, he fits the Orlando timeline as well. Saric is likely out the entire season with his injury but could be a trade chip once he shows he is healthy.

The first-round pick is a nice asset for Orlando to have as the Phoenix Suns could look drastically different in 2025 than they do now. How does each team feel about this hypothetical deal? Let’s take a look at it from each of their perspectives, starting with the Suns.
