What the Philadelphia 76ers are looking for

If the 76ers are to trade Ben Simmons, they should definitely demand to get a fair amount of value in return since he is An All-Star and All-NBA talent, but they really do need to come down on their asking price a little if they truly want to trade him because they are not going to be getting Damian Lillard nor Bradley Beal for him.

A trade consisting of Derrick White and Dejounte Murray, two experienced, young players who can immediately help a contending team, may be the best deal they are going to get, which is why this trade could very well make sense for the Sixers IF they have had enough with Ben Simmons holding out and there is no chance that he returns.

The latest news pertaining to Simmons is that he is indeed entertaining the idea of returning to the Sixers, but if he does, he will not be playing in any games. So basically, he is going to be returning to get his paychecks and sit out games with a “mysterious injury”.

The tension within this organization seems to be pretty high right now, which is not good given their chances of winning a title are slim, to begin with seeing as the Bucks, Nets, and Heat are all also major contenders in the Eastern Conference.

Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris are definitely two key talents on a championship team, but this team really needs their third talent to step up and Ben Simmons has not been able to do so. As a result, getting Murray and White in a trade with San Antonio gives the 76ers not just a third option, but a fourth option as well and they would also have Seth Curry as another complementary scorer.

When you look at trade packages that other teams around the league interested in Simmons could offer up, San Antonio’s really does rank amongst the best and for the 76ers, Murray and White are two guys who can aid them right away, as well as for the future, in their backcourt.

The longer Ben Simmons holds out and the longer the 76ers draw this process out, not only will they be down a key part of their rotation, but they will be adding onto the list of why Philadelphia is a place other All-Stars do not want to go to.

Having this situation happen with a top-tier talent is a nightmare for both PR people and the front office, which is why the best thing the 76ers can do is to try and trade Simmons now before the season begins, but that may not be feasible with the Spurs.
