With the 2021-22 NBA season set to get underway, the Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings are two teams that will be intriguing to watch right off the jump. Both teams are full of young talent and they both have question marks on their rosters as well. One name in particular to keep a close eye on could be Kings’ shooting guard Buddy Hield.

All offseason long, rumors persisted that the Kings were looking to trade Hield. In fact, at one point, it was reported that Hield was on his way to the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade that sent Kyle Kuzma to Sacramento. Unfortunately, the Lakers changed their mind and ended up acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Wizards instead.

That has led to Hield starting the season with the Kings. However, there is a good chance that Sacramento will still be open for business for the sharpshooting guard.

Could the Wizards consider making a push to acquire Hield? It would certainly be an intriguing option that would add more offensive firepower and perimeter scoring.

What Could A Potential Kings-Wizards Trade For Buddy Hield Look Like?

Wizards Receive: Buddy Hield, Robert Woodard II

Last season with the Kings, Hield ended up averaging 16.6 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He shot 40.6 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 39.1 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers show why a team like the Wizards could look to acquire him.

Now, the big question becomes, why would the Wizards want to trade for him and how would he fit?

Quite simply, Hield would be the kind of sixth man that Washington desperately needs to find. They have Spencer Dinwiddie and Bradley Beal as their clear-cut starting back-court. Hield would be able to come in off the bench and become the focal point of the second team offense.

Hield has played off the bench a lot with the Kings and this would be nothing new for him. But, he could actually play a much more valuable and more consistent role with the Wizards. The move could be exactly what he needs to stabilize himself in the NBA.

For the Kings, being able to get Kuzma and Bertans back in the trade would be a major bonus. They would beef up their front-court scoring and shooting. Those are areas that Sacramento has struggled with in recent years.

All of that being said, the trade may never even be discussed. Buddy Hield may play the entire season with the Kings or end up getting traded elsewhere. However, this is a very intriguing trade that could make sense for both teams involved.
