Does this trade make sense for the Wizards?

This trade for the Washington Wizards really depends on how they view their franchise moving forward. Since they have Rui Hachimura, Deni Avdija, and now both Isaiah Todd and Corey Kispert at the forward positions, Washington may not necessarily need Kyle Kuzma. Still, they may want to keep him around to build with Bradley Beal and Spencer Dinwiddie. 

Overall, this Wizards roster is not terrible, as they finally have some much-needed depth, but at the same time, they really do not have much overall talent. Spencer Dinwiddie is a question mark as he returns from ACL surgery, Montrezl Harrell was inconsistent last year and the rest of the Wizards’ roster around Beal is very unproven at this point. 

Keeping Bradley Beal long-term is the goal of the Washington Wizards, and if they want to do so, they have to make moves to bring in more solid talent around him. Buddy Hield is certainly this kind of player since the Wizards would know what to expect from him night-in and night-out. 

Adding another All-Star to pair with Beal would certainly be another avenue the Wizards could explore, but they would likely look to do so around the trade deadline or next offseason.

Moving the contracts of Kuzma and Bertans to bring in Hield is definitely beneficial for the Wizards, and they would actually get a boost in terms of three-point shooting with Hield on the wing instead of Bertans in the frontcourt. 

Seeing as this trade cannot be completed until after the season begins, this gives Washington some time to figure out if Davis Bertans and Kyle Kuzma are two guys they want to utilize moving forward. If the answer is no, then moving them both and a future first-round pick for Buddy Hield definitely makes sense to bring more value to this roster.
