What the Minnesota Timberwolves have to offer
Karl-Anthony Towns is off-the-market, as well as last year’s No. 1 overall pick in Anthony Edwards, but D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels, and possibly even Patrick Beverley or Taurean Prince are all possibly trade assets (players) the Minnesota Timberwolves could potentially offer up in trade packages for Ben Simmons.
D’Angelo Russell joined the Timberwolves during the 2019-20 season after being traded for Andrew Wiggins by the Golden State Warriors at the NBA trade deadline. The 25-year-old guard has played in 54 total games with Minnesota, averaging 19.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and shooting 37.6% from three-point range.
The former No. 2 overall pick is still a terrific isolation scorer on offense and was an All-Star-level player not too long ago, so he could pique the interest of the 76ers, but at the same time, his injuries are definitely a cause for concern. Russell can just never seem to stay healthy for a full season and him constantly dealing with some knee issues is definitely a cause for concern.
Malik Beasley has had some breakout performances with the Minnesota Timberwolves since joining them during the 2019-20 season as well, but he recently spent time in prison for felony threats of violence and does have some off-the-court issues that could wind up being distracting for a contending team like the 76ers.

Realistically, the best asset the Timberwolves have to offer up is second-year forward Jaden McDaniels. The 6’10” power forward has a 7-foot wingspan and is a very agile big man, making him a high-potential guy for the future.
At just 21-years-old, Jaden McDaniels is not close to being a finished product yet and he may not be ready to take on a huge role with a team yet, but as he continues to develop, we are talking about a lengthy, athletic, and quick 6’10” forward who can be a factor on both ends of the court, as well as in transition.
The most logical trade package that the Timberwolves could offer the 76ers and the trade package that has been highlighted the most is a deal that involves these three guys and 2-3 first-round draft picks for Ben Simmons.

It is definitely possible that a third or fourth team could be involved in this deal and a guy like Beasley could be shipped elsewhere other than Philadelphia, but these are the three best assets the Minnesota Timberwolves have to offer up.
Minnesota certainly has the assets to be able to trade for Ben Simmons and make themselves a viable competitor in the Western Conference, but the question that remains is whether or not the Philadelphia 76ers do in fact trade him.
