The Brooklyn Nets have plenty of tough decisions to make when it comes to point guard Kyrie Irving. As long as he remains unvaccinated, he cannot be a full participant for the team.

While he was deemed eligible to partake in practices with the team, New York mandates make him ineligible to play in home games at Barclays Center. Proof of vaccination needs to be shown to take part in events around New York City and Irving remains unvaccinated.

As a result, the Nets have made the tough decision to hold Irving out for an indefinite period of time. The organization decided until he can participate in all team activities, he will be participating in none.

This is a big decision for the Nets. Irving was eligible to still play in road games outside of New York City, but they decided that they do not want a part-time participant in the mix. They want him bought in full-time and until he can do that, he will not be a part of the team.

Nets general manager Sean Marks released a statement about the decision.

This is the right decision for the Nets to make. The situation was going to be a massive distraction throughout the season, as it would be the only thing that media members asked players and coaches about when they traveled.
