How This Trade Impacts Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets made the tough decision to not allow Kyrie Irving to participate until he is eligible to be a full-time player. A lot went into that, but ultimately, the Nets made the right decision.

It would have been a major distraction as it would have been the only thing they were asked about any time they were interviewed. But, the team should look to do whatever they can to fill that hole at the point guard spot.

They could fill that spot with a familiar face in D’Angelo Russell. Russell has experience playing with the Nets and was a major factor in the team’s turnaround. He was the key piece in the Kevin Durant sign-and-trade with the Golden State Warriors as well.

Along with Russell, the Nets are adding some depth to their frontcourt. Last season, the frontcourt was decimated, especially during the postseason run. Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid would ensure that doesn’t happen again.

McDaniels has an intriguing skill set, as he made more than one 3-pointer and blocked more than one shot per game. That would make him a good complementary piece as he would have plenty of open shots from the perimeter.

The defense is what the Nets would benefit from, as they didn’t play much of it last season. Reid offers good potential on that end of the court as well. He could be an option to start at center for Brooklyn, as he was productive in a starting role whenever Karl-Anthony Towns was sidelined.
