The Memphis Grizzlies made some changes to their roster this NBA offseason. They were a part of numerous trades that saw plenty of new faces joining the roster.
Multiple players that were a part of the team’s rotation during their surprise run to the postseason are no longer with the team. Jonas Valanciunas and Grayson Allen are the two most prominent players that will not be with the team this season.
Valanciunas was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans and will be replaced by Steven Adams. Allen was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, but the team didn’t receive anyone in return that will immediately step into the rotation. Instead, Memphis will be hoping some of their younger players are ready to take on bigger roles.
One of the players that will be asked to take on more responsibility is Desmond Bane. Bane was the 30th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of TCU. He has prototypical size for a shooting guard in the NBA and has the look of a solid two-way player.

He is going to be a key cog in the team’s rotation this season on the wing. One NBA scout, who talked to NBA Analysis Network’s own Brett Siegel, is keeping his eyes on Bane as he believes a breakout is coming this season.
Bane was considered to be one of the best shooters in the draft class and he didn’t disappoint during his rookie season. He knocked down 43.2 percent of his 3-point attempts, making 1.7 3-pointers per game.

Expect there to be more volume from Bane this season, especially if he is receiving more playing time. 3-point shooting is something that the Grizzlies lacked last season, so Bane’s presence will help open things up for the rest of the team offensively.
Desmond Bane taking the next step that the scout believes he is capable of would help keep the Memphis Grizzlies on track and fighting for a playoff spot in the competitive Western Conference.
