Tyler Herro drew a lot of scrutiny last NBA season after not living up to the hype of his rookie season, but the third-year shooting guard is ready to bounce-back in a huge way.

After taking an offseason to focus on his life/family, as well as rest mentally, Herro entered training camp for Miami looking much stronger than before and more dialed into his goals for the season.

Through three preseason games, Tyler Herro has both started and come off the bench for the Heat, but his production on offense has been some of the best in the league. He is shooting with confidence from the perimeter and so far, he has averaged 25.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and has shot 56% from the floor, 50% from three-point range this preseason.

“Tyler is the one guy that has been extremely impressive,” veteran Kyle Lowry said in regards to his new teammate this year. “He had been playing his butt off. He’s one guy that has been truly impressive to me.”

Herro’s performances have been impressive to Lowry, but also to a lot of NBA fans around the nation who may not have been expecting the young guard to be the bright spot for the Heat this season.

Miami brought in Kyle Lowry and P.J. Tucker in free agency, as well as gave both Duncan Robinson and Jimmy Butler new contracts, so there was not much attention put on Tyler Herro.

Amidst all the NBA trade rumors in the offseason, Miami has continued to believe in Tyler Herro and they have been unwilling to move him, which may finally pay off for them this season given the flashes he has shown in the preseason.

“He has really improved all across the board,” head coach Erik Spoelstra said after the Heat’s preseason victory over the Spurs on Friday. “His skill level is extremely high. He has really worked at it. This is a league that’s becoming a league of skill and he’s developing into one of the most skilled players in this league. You can see he gets where he needs to get. He can get to different levels on the floor. So, it’s a very good start for him.”
