Hey, what do you know? Another story about the ongoing situation with the Philadelphia 76ers and NBA All-Star Ben Simmons!

Since losing to the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals back in June, the Sixers have been looking to move 3x All-Star Ben Simmons because of his inability to be a factor offensively. The 25-year-old averaged just 14.3 points per game this season and his numbers declined in the postseason, as he averaged just 11.0 points per game in 12 games.

Ever since he was drafted first overall in 2016, there have been questions about Simmons’ ability to be a factor on offense and through four full seasons playing in the NBA, five if you count the year he took off due to injury, he still has not been able to develop into a threat offensively. In fact, Simmons has regressed as an offensive threat with the 76ers.

Joel Embiid is an MVP candidate if he can stay healthy over the course of the full season and Tobias Harris had an All-Star-like year numbers-wise last year, but this team needs a third key player in order to contend for a championship against the likes of the Nets, Bucks and now the Heat, all of which have their own “Big 3”.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and Indiana Pacers are all teams who have been involved in potential trade talks with the Philadelphia 76ers to this point, but Daryl Morey and this front office do not seem to be content with anything that is being offered their way.

The Sixers want an All-Star-level talent in return for Simmons, and rightfully so, but no team has been willing to offer up said All-Star to this point. Now, with the regular season set to begin on October 19, it is almost impossible for the 76ers to get this kind of value for Ben Simmons in a trade, which is why they now want him back

After trying to trade him for the last few months and Simmons not showing up to team activities, the 76ers now believe that they can convince their All-Star to return before the start of the season and play for them this year.

The thought behind this logic is likely so the Philadelphia 76ers can improve Simmons’ trade value and then look to move him again before the trade deadline, but here is the thing. Ben Simmons does not want to be in Philadelphia and he has made this perfectly clear by completely moving out of the city.
