The Chicago Bulls have made their intentions clear. They are gunning for a playoff spot to ensure that they can get Zach LaVine to sign his name on the dotted line of a long-term extension.

They have done a great job upgrading the pieces around them, but this trade would help bolster their playoff changes even more. Parting ways with a recent lottery pick in Coby White wouldn’t be the easiest thing to do, but it would help the team.

White is a young player that needs reps to continue his development. With the additions the Bulls made this offseason, those reps will be difficult to come by. Dragic would also be motivated to perform after what he said about joining the Toronto Raptors. He will want to perform at as high of a level as possible to show that he is still capable of helping a team win games.

Consistency is a big motivating factor in this trade as well. White had some up-and-down his first two seasons in the NBA. That is something the Bulls just can’t afford as the long-term future of the franchise could hang in the balance this season with LaVine’s potential free agency looming.
