The Sacramento Kings have been involved in numerous trade rumors this NBA offseason. They have been on the hunt to add an impact upgrade to the roster, as general manager Monte McNair wants to make a defining move to help turn the team’s fortunes around.

Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors and Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers are two of the players most prominently linked to the Kings. Alas, they have been unable to work out a deal for either player.

But, they have still been working the phones. They have players on the roster that they are looking to move as well. Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III are the two Kings most prominently mentioned on the rumor mill.

Hield was almost traded this offseason, as it looked like he would be joining the Los Angeles Lakers. A deal was so close the players involved, Hield for the Kings, Kyle Kuzma, and Montrezl Harrell for the Lakers, were notified.

The deal fell through once the Lakers pivoted to another trade, landing Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards instead. But, that shouldn’t deter the Kings from trying to trade Hield.

There has to be a level of awkwardness knowing he had one foot out the door. This trade alleviates that, sending Hield to the Denver Nuggets.
