How This Trade Impacts Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors have one of the better bargaining chips currently in the NBA in Goran Dragic. So, it would be a bit of a surprise to see them use it in a deal like this with the Houston Rockets.
Dragic can certainly land a better package than this, as this deal doesn’t do much for Toronto. Sort of in a retooling stage of their own, adding the 32-year old Gordon to the mix doesn’t make much sense.
At the very least they should be asking for draft compensation back from the Houston Rockets, as Gordon has two more years on his deal after this season and Dragic is on an expiring deal. Taking on long-term money is likely not part of the game plan in Dragic trade negotiations.
But, Gordon would help add some depth to the wing spots for the Raptors. Right now, they do not have much behind Gary Trent Jr., as they are looking at multiple point guard lineups with Malachi Flynn and Dragic as the backup guards coming off the bench behind Trent and Fred VanVleet.

Gordon has battled injuries in recent seasons, but can still be a productive shooter and scorer when on the court. But, at that price tag, the Raptors are better off looking elsewhere unless draft compensation is being attached to Gordon.
Ultimately, this would be a deal that the Raptors decline. They can do better than just Gordon in a return package for Dragic despite his large expiring contract.
