Does this trade make sense for New York Knicks?
Kevin Knox is not going to see a ton of playing time with the New York Knicks this year and he is nothing more than a “mop-up-time” type of player on the end of the bench, so moving him for Garrett Temple and a second-round pick really is a big win for the Knicks.
Knox’s value is close to zero at this point and Temple is a valuable veteran to have, especially on a playoff-contending team like New York.
This offseason, the Knicks really devoted themselves to going out and getting Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett some more help, which is why they not only re-signed Alec Burks and Derrick Rose but why they brought in Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier. Along with being a great defensive team, the Knicks could wind up being a top-tier offensive team as well, especially if they can stay healthy.
The addition of Garrett Temple would not only give the Knicks another experienced veteran on their roster but a guy who can really fit any role they would need him to play on the wing. Temple can play the shooting guard or small forward positions and has been a really solid contributor off the bench throughout his entire career.

His contract is definitely a little worrisome, as Temple is owed $4.91M this season, $5.15M during the 2022-23 season, and then $5.4M during the 2023-24 season, but the final year of his contract is non-guaranteed, so he is really under-contract through next year.
This is a no-risk, potential high-reward move for the Knicks and they get another draft pick in 2022, which would be their fifth draft pick in 2022, so the Knicks might as well make this trade if it is presented to them.
