Why Sacramento Kings Do This Trade
The Sacramento Kings are hoping that the acquisition of Jerami Grant can help push them closer to a playoff spot. Grant was excellent as the Pistons’ No. 1 option on offense last season and should benefit from a better supporting cast around him.
Going from Killian Hayes as his starting point guard to De’Aaron Fox is a huge upgrade. Fox will help get Grant into spots for him to succeed on offense and score some easy baskets.
The offense wasn’t the Kings’ problem last season, as they ranked 11th in offensive rating. But, that ranking could push higher with the dynamic offense that Grant would bring to the table. While not as efficient as Harrison Barnes, he showed with the Pistons he can carry an offense.
Grant will also bring some solid defense to the table, something Sacramento desperately needs. The Kings had the worst defensive rating in the history of the NBA this past season.
