Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Norman Powell, G Dennis Smith Jr.
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F Talen Horton-Tucker, G Kendrick Nunn
This trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers is one that isn’t likely to happen soon but could occur down the road depending on how things shake out during the season.
The Lakers receive Norman Powell in this deal, who signed a lucrative deal with the Trail Blazers in free agency. Portland locked him up with a five-year, $90 million deal.
Joining him in Los Angeles is former lottery pick Dennis Smith Jr., who is currently on a non-guaranteed deal with the Trail Blazers for training camp. Smith is trying to hold onto his NBA career, as he received very little interest as a free agent this summer.
Heading to Portland is Talen Horton-Tucker. He signed a three-year $30 million deal with the Lakers in free agency as a restricted free agent. The team pounced relatively quickly so that no other franchise could present him an offer sheet.

Along with Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn is heading to the greater northwest. Nunn signed the biggest contract the Lakers had to offer to someone from outside the team in free agency, signing for their entire tax-payers mid-level exception.
There is a lot to unravel in this trade and how it may come to be. Let’s take a look at it from each team’s perspective, starting with the Lakers.
