The Washington Wizards surprised some people when they held onto Bradley Beal this offseason. After they traded Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers, many people figured that Beal would soon follow out the door.

Instead, they built the roster up around Beal. If they could secure a long-term commitment from him, they could start doing some things with this roster.

Right now, the Wizards have one of the deepest teams in the NBA. They made multiple moves this offseason, bringing in Spencer Dinwiddie, Aaron Holiday, Corey Kispert, and Isaiah Todd in addition to all of the Lakers that were acquired in the Westbrook trade. It would make some sense if they consolidated some of those assets into a potential difference-making player such as Ben Simmons.

Simmons and Beal would be one of the best backcourt duos in the NBA. They would mesh together perfectly, as Simmons needs an offensive dynamo alongside him in the backcourt to make things work. It was something Philadelphia was never able to find, but the Wizards already has it in place with Beal.

The Wizards have a ton of pieces that could be of interest to the 76ers, who would still be looking to contend and would be able to with the players acquired from Washington. The Wizards don’t have much draft compensation, so they would have to make up for it with young players in the trade package.
