The stalemate between the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons is continuing as NBA training camps get underway. Simmons is not present at 76ers camp, as he has made his intentions clear for the future; he wants to play for a new team.

Simmons has played his entire career in Philadelphia after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He has been a solid producer for the 76ers, but the team has been unable to get over the hump in the postseason.

They have suffered some tough defeats in the last four postseason, never getting beyond the second round. The one constant in those postseasons is Simmons disappearing offensively in the fourth quarter.

While not the sole reason for the team’s struggles, Simmons’s refusal to look at the rim and shoot the ball is a big contributor to stagnation offensively. Opposing teams can clog things up in the halfcourt and make things extremely difficult for the 76ers.

Simmons believes things have run their course with his current situation. He would like a fresh start and no longer wants to play alongside Joel Embiid. Numerous teams would like to acquire Simmons, but Daryl Morey has a sky-high asking price.

The Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Cleveland Cavaliers have been the most recent teams linked to him. The Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, and Indiana Pacers had been linked previously.

While one of those teams can still emerge as his eventual landing spot, there could be other teams waiting in the wings as well. Here are three dark-horse trade suitors that could make a trade for Simmons before the season.
