The Dallas Mavericks will look different during the 2021-22 NBA season than they did after the 2020-21 season. They have a new front office, coaching staff, and few new players in the rotation.

On the court, Dallas had several players that won’t be back for this season. Nico Harrison in the front office replaced Donnie Nelson. Jason Kidd is taking over as head coach after Rick Carlisle stepped down.

Josh Richardson was traded to the Boston Celtics, creating a traded player exception and Moses Brown coming to town. Nicolo Melli, J.J. Redick, Tyler Bey, and Nate Hinton look unlikely to return.

Tim Hardaway Jr. and Boban Marjanovic were both re-signed. Reggie Bullock and Sterling Brown were scooped up in free agency as well.

Dallas now has more options around Luka Doncic when it comes to spacing the floor, as Bullock and Brown both made more than 40 percent of their 3-point shots last season. They are both good defenders, as the Mavericks needed help on that end of the court.

A lot of focus has been on the Mavericks not adding a secondary ball-handler alongside Doncic. Still, the team could also use some bolstering of their frontcourt, specifically at power forward. Thaddeus Young is someone that could help in that area.

What could it take to acquire Young from the San Antonio Spurs? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical deal that lands Young in Dallas.
