Atlanta Hawks Receive: G/F Buddy Hield
Sacramento Kings Receive: F Danilo Gallinari, ATL 2023 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected), BKN 2025 2nd Round Pick (via ATL)
With Trae Young, John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clint Capela, and a ton of young, versatile talents on their roster, the Atlanta Hawks are not going anywhere anytime soon and they could look to better themselves by expanding on their perimeter game.
When you look at this roster, there really are no flaws, but it never hurts to add three-point shooting, especially nowadays!
Buddy Hield averaged 39.1% from three-point range last season and for his career, he has shot 40.6% from long-range. Trae Young could certainly utilize another weapon on the outside and seeing as the Hawks ranked 12th last season in three-point shooting, they could potentially vault themselves into the Top-5 by adding Hield.
They would have to sacrifice Danilo Gallinari to make the contracts work, but this really would not be a tough loss for the Hawks because Gallinari is now 33-years-old and they just drafted Jalen Johnson, a versatile forward who could replace him on the team’s depth chart.

With John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, Jalen Johnson, and veteran Solomon Hill, the Hawks could definitely get away with trading Gallinari for Hield, a move that would improve their three-point shooting.
The only catch to this trade though is that the $61.5M remaining on Buddy Hield’s contract is not favorable, especially when Kevin Huerter is a high-level three-point shooter making $4.2M this season on Atlanta’s roster.

This would be a big investment for the Hawks to make, which could wind up hurting them since they agreed to big contract extensions with Young and Collins, but at the end of the day, bringing in Buddy Hield does put the Hawks in a more “win-now” position than they are with Gallinari.
