Would this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
The Portland Trail Blazers have bigger things to worry about but they could continue to remain quiet if neither of their guards requested trades. This is the best-case scenario for Portland as they most likely want to hang out a little or as long as possible.
Instead, the Trail Blazers can add a veteran down low that can help come the postseason. Thaddeus Young would help a poor defensive team improve slotting alongside Robert Covington in the frontcourt. Both can switch on screens and guard multiple positions.
The Trail Blazers have not been a balanced team over the years and this has hurt them significantly. The Blazers struggle down low and that was obvious once they get into the postseason against other top bigs in the Western Conference.
This is not to say that Young is an elite option, but he has plenty of experience and can compete down low and on the perimeter with the best of them. Also, they would be able to get Nurkic off the books and gain some more experience.
