Does this trade make sense for Golden State Warriors?

If the Golden State Warriors want to maximize their current championship chances, then this trade makes a lot of sense for them. Long-term though, the Warriors may have a better future with Wiggins and Wiseman rather than Siakam and Boucher.

In the short-term, adding an already proven All-Star talent in Pascal Siakam to their frontcourt, along with Chris Boucher, who is one of the best backup frontcourt players in the entire league now, gives the Warriors everything they need to be a force in the Western Conference again, especially with Klay Thompson expected to be back around Christmas.

Moving on from a large chunk of their young core is definitely a tough decision for Golden State to make, but this trade definitely increases the Warriors chances of winning a title during the 2021-22 season. A lineup of Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Green and Siakam is not only great defensively, but better than what they currently have offensively.

Seeing as the Warriors just drafted Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, two guys who are 18-years-old and 19-years-old respectively, it seems like management is “all-in” on building a young core for the future, which could deter them from making this move.

It really is a “roll of the dice” on whether or not the Warriors would look to pursue Siakam if he became available in trade talks, but ultimately, this is a trade that makes sense for Golden State if they are willing to make the necessary sacrifices.
