Would this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?

Karl-Anthony Towns signed a max contract to remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he was viewed to be the franchise player in Minnesota. This has been the case, but there have been some loud rumors over the last year.

He has been linked to many teams, and if he is moved, the Timberwolves would get a huge return for their best player. Again, the only context for a trade involving Towns being logical for Minnesota is if they have yet another bad season. At some point, making a major change is needed.

The franchise-cornerstone could be Anthony Edwards in the event of a tear-down. In this particular NBA trade scenario, adding Tyrese Haliburton would bring a legitimate backcourt to rely on moving forward.

Both Edwards and Haliburton are second-year players that could have bright futures. Holmes and Barnes would bring experience, and they both turned in strong statistical seasons for Sacramento, which proved there is plenty in the tank. Along with draft picks, the Timberwolves would get some players to help their rebuild.

At the end of the day, having a long-term perspective should be the ultimate goal for Minnesota. They have not found success with Towns but there is optimism entering this season. If that doesn’t translate to results, changes are needed.
