#2 Steve Kerr – Golden State Warriors
Steve Kerr won the Coach of the Year award for the 2015-16 season after coaching the Golden State Warriors to a 73-9 record, the best regular-season record in NBA history and breaking the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls record of 72-10, a team in which he was a player on.
Because he inherited a team with the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on it, Kerr does not get the love he deserves from many, but he is a really smart and very engaged head coach.
Kerr may give his players a lot of freedom, making it look like he is not doing his job correctly, but he may be the best coach in the league in terms of building relationships with his players.
The Warriors have not been good as of late, missing the playoffs the last two seasons, but this is primarily because of injuries. Klay Thompson has not stepped on the court since the 2019 NBA Finals loss to the Toronto Raptors and pretty much everybody else on this roster has spent time on the bench with an injury.

Entering the 2021-22 season, Golden State should be 100% healthy and they will once again be looking to contend for a title. After going a combined 54-83 the last two seasons, the Warriors truly do have a chance to finish as a top team in the Western Conference, which would make Steve Kerr a heavy favorite to win Coach of the Year.
