How This Trade Impacts Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls identified the point guard as being the position they needed to upgrade this offseason and aggressively looked to add players there. Ayo Dosunmu was selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft to kick things off, but they did not stop there.

Chicago pounced on Lonzo Ball early in the offseason, agreeing to a four-year, $85 million deal. A sign-and-trade was executed for him and he will take over the starting point guard spot. The team also signed Alex Caruso away from the Los Angeles Lakers on a four-year, $37 million deal.

Finding minutes for Coby White once he is recovered from his shoulder injury could be more difficult than they first imagined.

The Bulls may not have the touches available to continue developing White. If they find that to be true, they could flip him for Cam Reddish, who fills a huge need. Patrick Williams may start the season there with DeMar DeRozan at power forward, but it is very little behind him.

Stanley Johnson has not lived up to expectations during his six-year career and Troy Brown Jr. has failed to consistently provide production in his three years in the league.

Reddish could be a big part of the team at small forward and profiles as an excellent two-way, 3-and-D wing. He could be just what the team is missing to round out their rotation and would carve out a considerable role if he can improve the consistency on his 3-point shot.
