#10 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – Oklahoma City Thunder

2020-21 Stats: 23.7 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 5.9 APG, 0.8 STL, 50.8 FG%, 41.8 3P%

After playing in just 35 games during the 2020-21 season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was shut down by the Thunder after suffering a significant tear in his plantar fascia of his right foot. However, in his limited time last season, Gilgeous-Alexander was fantastic and has himself aligned to have a big 2021-22 season.

Acting as a combo-guard for Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is “the guy” for one of the youngest teams in the league. He not only brings the ball up the court for them, but SGA is always the guy Oklahoma City leans on for a bucket when they need one.

Seeing as they will likely finish as the last-place team in the league this upcoming year, Gilgeous-Alexander is going to see a ton of action with the ball and have plenty of opportunities to score.

It is not crazy to think that in a full season, the 23-year-old combo-guard can average over 25 PPG, and as a result, he is definitely a player to keep an eye on not only in terms of being a potential All-Star but potentially winning the Most Improved Player award this year.

#9 Jalen Green – Houston Rockets

2020-21 Stats: N/A

Drafted second overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jalen Green definitely has heavy expectations to meet in the league, but he is going to be a force from Day 1. Originally one of the top prospects in the 2020 Recruiting Class, Green opted to play in the G-League for the new Ignite team rather than going the traditional collegiate basketball route to the NBA.

In the G-League, the young guard averaged 17.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals and shot 46.1% from the floor against high-level, almost NBA-caliber talents in a professional league, giving him a leg up compared to some other guys coming into the league via college.

Green was also spectacular in Summer League for the Houston Rockets, averaging 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and shooting 51.4% from the floor, 52.6% from three-point range in 3 games.

You never really know what to expect from rookies on a rebuilding team, but Jalen Green is a very rare breed of players. There is no doubt that he could run away with the Rookie of the Year award this season and given his natural scoring abilities on an overall weak team, Jalen Green could ultimately lead the league in scoring one day. Rockets fans, you may hate to see James Harden in Brooklyn, but Green is the next big thing in H-Town!
