Does this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?
Any team that would add Damian Lillard is getting an immediate benefit. He is one of the best players in the league and an all-time shooter from deep. Lillard has put up crazy numbers and seems to get better when the stage gets bigger. That might be strange to say as the Blazers have not been successful in the postseason but they have been overmatched.
In Minnesota, Lillard would not make the Timberwolves a championship team but he could certainly help them get to the postseason. If Lillard is coming, it makes sense to keep Towns in Minnesota to pair with him.
He has turned into one of the best big men in the league and can score at all three levels. With just these two running the show, Minnesota would be difficult to defend. This is a chance for Minnesota to return to the playoffs and have a legitimate superstar in the backcourt to rely on.
The Timberwolves previously made a big swing via trade during Karl-Anthony Towns’ time with the organization when they acquired Jimmy Butler. That clearly did not work out. However, this could be a far more cohesive situation
