Dennis Schroder – Boston Celtics
Why would the Boston Celtics look to trade Dennis Schroder after just signing him to a small contract this offseason? Well, who knows how well Schroder is going to fit in with Boston first of all, and second, they could have made this signing just to try and trade him midseason for a reasonable return on their investment.
Marcus Smart is the Celtics point guard now with Kemba Walker out and they also have Payton Pritchard, who is a second-year guard who could be gearing up to take a substantial-sized leap in his second season in the NBA. They may decide that Schroder is no longer of value to them anymore, which is why a team like the Heat could be interested.
Miami would have to find a way to come up with $5M in salaries to trade away, but giving up some draft picks could be worthwhile for the Heat in their chances of contending for a championship this year. After all, they do not have any real threats behind Kyle Lowry in their backcourt, so if the veteran guard gets hurt like he did last season, the Heat could be in a lot of trouble.
Already in his career, Dennis Schroder has proven to be a great secondary point guard and valuable bench player, so the Heat adding him at some point during the 2021-22 season would make a ton of sense.

Seeing as he cannot be traded until after November 11, Schroder is more of a midseason trade target than one entering training camp for Miami, but the Heat would be smart to keep an eye on him as a potential target this season.
