The Sacramento Kings came into the offseason looking to shake things up on their roster. They have tied the NBA record by missing the postseason for 15 consecutive years. Balancing out their roster could help them snap that streak.
Sacramento had a glut of guards last season and only added to the logjam this offseason. With their first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Kings selected Baylor point guard Davion Mitchell.
It was the second consecutive year they selected a point guard with their first-round pick, as they did it in 2020 when they nabbed Tyrese Haliburton.
The best player on the team, De’Aaron Fox, already occupies the starting point guard spot. So, we can see even more two-point guard lineups this season in Sacramento.

Adding some help in the frontcourt by using the backcourt depth would make sense for the Kings. It would open up more minutes for their younger players and give head coach Luke Walton more options for the wing and frontcourt.
